Porcelain Veneers
At Dr. Patty’s Dental Boutique & Spa in Fort Lauderdale, FL, we help you choose the right dental veneers to correct your smile and enhance your life. We apply porcelain veneers for many of our customers who seek a long-lasting, stain-resistant, natural look to help them present a beautiful smile to the world.
Why Choose Porcelain Veneers
Are you hesitant to show your smile due to imperfections in your teeth? Inconsistent alignment, size, or shape of your teeth can affect your self-esteem and how others perceive you. Concerns about discoloration, chips, gaps, or misalignment can impact your confidence. Veneers provide a solution to enhance your smile for many years. We offer a variety of veneers, each with unique strengths.
Different types of veneers we offer include:
Benefits of Porcelain Veneers
Some of the advantages of porcelain veneers over other types include:
- Natural appearance: They look slightly more natural than composite resin
- Stain-resistant: Less susceptible to discoloration over time than composite resin
- Longer-lasting: Approximately 10 years versus 4-8 years for composite resin
- Durable: Less likely to chip or suffer damage than composite resin and most other veneer types
We use Feldspathic porcelain — the softest and most beautiful type — for many of our smile makeovers. We also offer various non-porcelain options that may better suit your needs. During a complimentary consultation, we can discuss your best options to help you regain confidence in your smile.

Differentiating Porcelain Veneers from Non-porcelain Varieties
Many people choose porcelain veneers for their combination of a natural-looking appearance, resistance to stains, and long-lasting durability. However, other options may be more appropriate, depending on your cosmetic preferences or dental needs.
Non-porcelain veneers include:
Individuals may choose these other options for several reasons. Composite or 3D Printed Resin veneers are not as strong, durable, or long-lasting as porcelain but require less preparation than porcelain veneers. CEREC® veneers are a ceramic option we can apply in a single visit, but size and shape limitations may mean they are not the optimum choice for you.
The following characteristics differentiate porcelain veneers from alternative options:
- Better-looking and longer-lasting than composite resin
- More durable than composite resin
- Less likely to lead to staining or discoloration – though proper oral hygiene is essential
If you choose porcelain veneers, you will need to avoid whitening products and ensure you are using a nonabrasive toothbrush in order to maintain color consistency and avoid damaging your veneers. In order to apply porcelain veneers, we will have to do more preparatory work on these teeth than is necessary for composite resin alternatives, but the appearance, strength and quality of porcelain veneers is superior.
We will assess these different options to enhance your smile during your visit. Contact us to schedule a complimentary consultation and take the first steps.
How Are Porcelain Veneers Applied?
While Lumineers®, CEREC Same-Day Veneers, and 3D Printed Resin Veneers are applied during a single visit, our da Vinci Veneers and popular standard porcelain veneers in Fort Lauderdale, FL are applied to your teeth at two visits to our tranquil boutique:
- Visit 1 – Veneer Preparation: Teeth are prepared for the procedure with removal of 0.3 to 0.5 mm of enamel to allow a layer of veneer to be placed. A digital impression of the teeth is taken and sent to a dental laboratory for veneer design.
- Visit 2 – Veneer Bonding: Bonding is the process of permanently attaching the veneer to the tooth. Following a tooth cleaning, the veneer is bonded with special dental cement. The adhesive is then hardened with a blue curing light.
Behaviors To Avoid When You Have Porcelain Veneers
Some substances and activities can damage porcelain veneers, which may require you to modify some of your habits. You may also need to avoid foods you have previously enjoyed. The following can contribute to significant damage or wear to porcelain veneers:
- Nail-biting
- Opening packages with your teeth
- Hard candy
- Popcorn
- Nuts
- Chewing gum
- Other hard or sticky foods
Discuss these topics during your complimentary consultation if you have questions or concerns about specific foods or behaviors.
Factors To Discuss When Determining the Right Veneers for You
When choosing veneers, critical client considerations include preparation time and the required number of visits. Some people value the convenience of same-day options, while some veneers can take multiple visits with wait times while being prepared.
Other factors can include the number of teeth requiring veneers and the nature of the damage or imperfections. We will help you weigh the different approaches and their relative strengths. We aim to help you choose the best decision for your needs while maximizing your comfort and confidence, resulting in a smile you will readily want to show the world.
